What is the Clarity II Laser?
The Clarity II laser combines two forms of light energy, the non-ablative YAG and the Pixel Q Switch. This combination of light energy can penetrate the outer layer of the skin without any injury. This allows the Clarity II laser to be used on sensitive skin on the face and neck that could not handle more ablative forms of laser skin tightening. The Clarity II laser can be used on all skin types and pigments, which is not true for most laser procedures.
How Does Clarity II Laser Skin Tightening Work?
The combined energy of the YAG and Pixel Q Switch lasers is able to penetrate the outer layer of the skin, the epidermis, without causing any heat damage or injury. Once the light energy penetrates the epidermis it reaches the dermis, the skin’s second layer, where it instantly converts to heat energy. This provides a gentle heating of the dermis layer. This heating stimulates a “wound response” from the body, triggering new collagen production to heal the perceived wound. It also begins a process of skin remodeling where new skin cells are created. Both processes lead to younger-looking, rejuvenated skin.
How Long Does Laser Skin Tightening Last?
Decreasing collagen production is a hallmark of aging; that’s why our skin sags and begins to form wrinkles and creases. Laser skin tightening with the Clarity II laser triggers the creation of new collagen to address the perceived “wound” created in the dermis by the laser. Still, while the new collagen produced rejuvenates the skin in the treatment areas, it doesn’t stop the continued decrease of your body’s natural collagen production. At MarSha MedSpa, we recommend an initial group of 4-6 treatments, each separated by one month. From there, a single treatment every six months stimulates the body to keep adding new collagen to replace what you’re losing.
How Long Does a Laser Skin Tightening Procedure Take?
Our Clarity II laser skin tightening treatments at MarSha MedSpa are quick and painless. The procedure takes just 20-30 minutes, making it a perfect lunchtime procedure. You can return directly to work or your other normal activities immediately after your session. Our Medical Esthetician can combine this with a dermaplaning service for added exfoliation and glow.
Is There Recovery Time After Laser Skin Tightening?
No. This procedure doesn’t harm the epidermis at all. There is no bruising or skin damage. You can return to work or other normal activities immediately after your session. Treatment areas may have some initial redness, but this passes very quickly.
How Soon Will I See Results with Laser Skin Tightening?
Clarity II laser skin tightening results build with time. While there is an initial refreshed appearance to your skin after your session, your results really begin to show as the body builds new collagen and skin cells over the next few weeks and months. The body can continue to produce new collagen as a result of your skin tightening procedure for up to six months.
Are There Side Effects/Risks with Laser Skin Tightening?
There aren’t any side effects or risks with Clarity II laser skin tightening. This procedure is not to be confused with ablative forms of laser skin resurfacing. The Clarity II procedure is effective, yet gentle on the skin.
